Welcome to the 18th

Annual BISRA GaddinAbtGarnish Swim

This swim around Garnish Island in Glengarriff, Co. Cork is one of the most stunning and safest island circumnavigation swims in Ireland.

It is set in a beautiful post-glacial landscape in the sheltered clear waters of the northeast corner of Bantry Bay surrounded by the rugged mountains of the Beara Peninsula and teaming with water wildlife.

Our swim options are 1k, 3k, & 5k

A cut-off time of 60 mins after the start will be in operation for 5k swimmers.

If you reach the slipway on Garnish Island (2.5k) later than that you will be directed home. The maximum swim-time is 1 hr 45 mins.

Safety Briefing on the slipway ready to swim will be at 17.15

Starting on-time at 17.30 is important for the success of the swim.

We welcome new swimmers to 'dip their toes' into an Open Water Swimming event. The 1k option is well suited for that.

Our swim is all about participating and the Craic. So come to enjoy the beautiful location, the sport and the sociability.

Permission for our proposed dates has been applied for.
